A unique childhood, a long lineage full of creativity and culture, and a deep-rooted connection to the earth beneath her has made Krystella von Goethe the designer she is today.
Krystella’s love of fashion began from a young age, when her father’s sweetheart at the time, a woman Krystella admired, let her try out her sewing machine and she was hooked. As she grew up, Krystella’s love of fashion and drawing grew too, so it seemed only natural she’d one day create her own fashion line.
That unique childhood included living in both New Zealand and Australia, but It would be the Gold Coast where Krystella spent most of her time living in a bus with her free-spirited musician father.
“Growing up on the beach, always listening to the sound of the ocean, accompanied by my dad’s acoustic guitar.
We lived a bohemian free-spirited lifestyle, which allowed our creativity to prosper,” Krystella says.
“When we lived in the bus, you could literally step out the door and you’re on the sand. It was like living in paradise.”
Krystella has a deep and profound respect for her own diverse culture and lineage of Aboriginal, Māori, and German ancestry, which has shaped her as well. Her love for the arts, particularly that of Literature has influenced her greatly as a designer.
“As a proud Australian Indigenous company, we celebrate the native aboriginal peoples of this land and their culture.
KRYSTELLA AUSTRALIA acknowledges all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander elders both past and present. With personal connections to both, WIRADJURI tribe of NSW, Australia and NGATI TUWHARETOA tribe of Aotearoa, New Zealand.”
Another interesting part of Krystella’s story is that she comes from a long line of creative people. Her great, great, great grandmother was Māori poetess and composer, Puhiwahine (Rihi Elizabeth Gotty) from Aotearoa – New Zealand.
The most intriguing family member would arguably be that of the renowned German poet Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Krystella is an 8th generation descendent through her beloved father.
While her childhood dream of becoming a designer never left her, as can happen, life sometimes gets in the way, and Krystella put her career goals on hold to raise four beautiful children.
Krystella studied at design institutes including the prestigious Karl von Busse Institute of Design – Sydney, and world renowned Fashion Design Institute – Ultimo College, Sydney, Australia.
I never gave up on my dreams, and the desire to create a world of beauty through design
